Having opted for self-publication, one challenge that you will definitely have to face is that of promoting the (self-published) book. Those who opt to have their works published by the established publishing houses don’t face this challenge: the publishers undertake the promotion on their behalf. But having opted for self-publication, you also have to undertake self-promotion.
One way in which you can promote your self-published book is by blogging about it. If you have a blog that attracts a sizeable number of visitors on a regular basis, there is absolutely no reason as to why you can’t take this approach to self-promotion.
Another way in which you can promote your self-published book is by inviting critics to review it on their platforms. By the way, this is what the established publishers normally do, whenever they wish to promote new works by their authors. So in this case, you’d simply be doing for yourself what a publisher would otherwise have done for you.
Yet another way in which you can promote your self-published book is simply by advertising it. You can, for instance, opt to buy some online ads for the book (this shouldn’t cost too much), in order to create awareness about the book. If you are lucky, this should set up a buzz — which may easily shoot up your book sales, especially if the book in question is sincerely a worthwhile work of literature.
